OpenAI's rapid monthly releases, including GPT-5.4 Thinking on March 5 with industry-leading reasoning, coding via GPT-5.3-Codex integration, and a 1 million token context window, have reinforced trader consensus on their frontrunner status for GPT-6, their next flagship large language model. Leaks confirm pre-training complete on codename "Spud," a potential GPT-5.5 or GPT-6 successor, with deployment eyed for April-May 2026 after redirecting Sora compute resources. Amid intensifying competition—xAI's Grok 3 topping math benchmarks in February 2025, Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6, and Google's Gemini 3.1 Pro—upcoming catalysts like OpenAI's next announcement or developer previews could trigger sharp sentiment shifts before year-end resolution.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," GPT-6 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by OpenAI as being accessible to the general public.
GPT-6 refers to a product explicitly named GPT-6 (e.g. ChatGPT-6o would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to GPT-5, similar to the progression from GPT-3 to GPT-4. Products labeled as GPT-5.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from OpenAI, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
