In the Busan Challenger first-round matchup on hard courts, Canadian Alexis Galarneau (ATP 203) entered as the higher-ranked player with a career-high of 153, facing Japan's Kaichi Uchida (ATP 238, career-high 147) in a rematch of their even 1-1 head-to-head, last split on hard in 2021 when Uchida prevailed 6-4, 6-2. Galarneau's recent form included a qualifying loss in Houston but solid Challenger-level experience, while Uchida arrived off back-to-back defeats in Wuning and other Asian hard-court events, highlighting defensive vulnerabilities. No injuries or withdrawals reported; trader consensus reflected Galarneau's edge in youth (27 vs. 31), power baseline game, and surface history amid neutral conditions in the Renault Busan Open.
