Trader consensus pins Carlos Alcaraz as the narrow 2026 US Open favorite at 35.5% implied probability over Jannik Sinner's 30.5%, highlighting the next-gen rivalry on hard courts where both thrive—Alcaraz with his 2022 US Open title and recent Roland Garros-Wimbledon double plus Olympic gold, Sinner bolstered by his Australian Open win, world No. 1 ranking, and consistent baseline power. Recent US Open 2024 setbacks keep the race tight: Sinner's third-round withdrawal due to illness amid a lingering doping appeal, Alcaraz's fourth-round loss to Frances Tiafoe, and Novak Djokovic's early exit post-knee surgery at age 37 dropping him to 6.1%. Emerging talents like Lorenzo Musetti and Arthur Fils lurk as longshots with breakout potential on the Flushing Meadows surface.
