Borna Gojo enters as the trader consensus favorite against Rei Sakamoto in the Oeiras 3 Challenger first-round clash on outdoor red clay, buoyed by his recent Morelia Challenger title win in late March 2026, where he defeated Juan Pablo Ficovich in the final for his first clay crown of the year. Ranked No. 137 to Sakamoto's No. 165, the 28-year-old Croatian boasts superior experience and a career 55% clay win rate, contrasting the 19-year-old Japanese's even 50% mark and harder-court focus, highlighted by his Miami second-round loss to Daniil Medvedev after an upset win. No head-to-head exists, no injuries reported, and mild Portuguese spring conditions favor steady baseline play, underscoring a competitive matchup with Gojo's form edge.
