Preliminary FlightAware data confirms approximately 5,400 U.S. flights delayed 15+ minutes on arrival within, into, or out of the country on March 29, placing trader consensus firmly at 100% for under 6,000 and driving the near-total rejection of the 6,500-7,000 range. This reflects a routine operational day without nationwide disruptions like the major storms earlier in March that spiked delays above 10,000 on dates such as March 16. Localized impacts, including heavy delays at LaGuardia Airport and South Florida weather constraints, plus minor western air traffic limitations, failed to elevate the total amid stable FAA staffing and no systemic issues. Final Bureau of Transportation Statistics tallies, typically aligning closely with preliminary figures, could prompt minor adjustments, but a surge past 6,000 would require unprecedented upward revision from overlooked cancellations or data errors—scenarios traders deem negligible based on historical variance.
