Recent April CPI data, showing a 0.6% month-over-month rise that matched forecasts amid sharp energy price gains from Middle East tensions, anchors trader expectations for May at a similar pace. Consensus forecasts and nowcasts cluster near 0.4–0.5%, with the 0.5% outcome commanding the highest implied probability as markets price in some easing from March’s 0.9% surge while core measures remain elevated near 2.8% year-over-year. Persistent shelter and goods pressures, alongside uncertain tariff and oil passthrough effects, support the tight distribution around these levels ahead of the June 10 release.
