This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins the nomination for the Democratic Party to contest the SC-01 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The Democratic primary will take place on June 9, 2026. If no nominee is announced by November 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of official Democrat sources, including https://democrats.org/. Any replacement of the nominee before election day will not change the resolution of the market. In South Carolina’s open 1st Congressional District Democratic primary, Nancy Lacore and Mac Deford advanced from the June 9 contest with 36% and 29% respectively in a seven-candidate field that fragmented remaining support. Their June 23 runoff remains competitive because both candidates emphasize military service—Lacore as a retired three-star Navy admiral and former Chief of the Navy Reserve, Deford as a Coast Guard veteran and repeat candidate—while competing for similar Lowcountry voter bases in Charleston and Beaufort areas. Recent campaign dynamics, including grassroots mobilization, funding patterns, and a reported debate scheduling dispute, have prevented either frontrunner from consolidating a clear edge. The closely matched trader consensus reflects uncertainty over which profile will prevail in the low-turnout runoff environment before the general election against the Republican nominee.
