Spencer Johnson holds a clear edge in this ITF M15 Lakewood quarterfinal on outdoor hard courts, backed by his higher ATP ranking near 790 and stronger recent college results at UCLA. Both 23- and 24-year-old Americans transitioned from standout NCAA careers—Johnson with multiple All-America honors and Dean after time at Yale and Cal—yet Johnson’s superior ranking and professional exposure give him the edge in a first-time matchup. Limited ITF experience for either player and the absence of prior head-to-head results leave room for variance, while the hard-court surface favors consistent baseline play from both. No reported injuries or late withdrawals have altered the field.
