California's 14th congressional district faces a vacancy after the incumbent's April 2026 resignation, triggering both a June 2 top-two primary for the November general election and a June 16 special primary to fill the remainder of the term. Recent vote tallies from the June 2 contest show Aisha Wahab leading with approximately 38.5 percent, followed by Melissa Hernandez at 17.1 percent, positioning both Democrats to advance regardless of party. Republican candidates trail behind, with the district's strong Democratic lean and party endorsements shaping early positioning. The upcoming June 16 special primary and final vote certification remain key near-term factors that could influence trader assessments of the nominees.
