Sixth seed Mirra Andreeva entered as a strong challenger to defending champion Jelena Ostapenko in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix first-round clash on indoor clay, marking their debut head-to-head. Ostapenko, with a 10-9 record in 2026 including a Qatar Open semifinal, aimed to leverage her powerful baseline game and Stuttgart title defense, but recent early exits signaled form concerns. Andreeva, riding 18 wins in 23 matches this year, brought momentum from solid European swing results and all-court versatility suited to the surface. No injuries or withdrawals altered the draw; traders weighed Ostapenko's experience against the 18-year-old's speed and resilience, with Andreeva ultimately prevailing 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 after trailing 1-4 in the decider.
