Voter turnout in the October 5 Quebec general election has centered trader expectations around the 66-70% range, reflecting historical baselines from the 2022 and 2018 contests near 66% alongside a competitive multi-party campaign. Recent polls show the Parti Québécois holding a narrow lead near 29%, with the Liberals, Coalition Avenir Québec, and others in contention across many ridings, a dynamic that typically lifts participation through heightened mobilization and vote efficiency concerns. Debates in September and ongoing pre-campaign activity since the August call have sustained visibility, yet structural factors such as persistently low youth engagement—around 54% among 18-24 year olds in 2022—and minimal Indigenous community participation continue to exert downward pressure. Absent major late-breaking events that could sharply increase engagement, the market consensus aligns with modest gains over recent cycles tempered by these demographic patterns.
