This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026 according to the CDC case counter between January 1, 2026, 12:00 AM ET and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources. As of April 2, 2026, the CDC reports 1,671 confirmed measles cases across 33 U.S. jurisdictions, including 17 new outbreaks with 94% of infections outbreak-associated and 92% among unvaccinated individuals or those of unknown status. This surge, surpassing early-year paces from prior years and following 2025's record 2,286 cases, stems from national MMR vaccination coverage at about 92.5%—below the 95% herd immunity threshold for the highly contagious measles virus (R0 12-18). Major clusters in South Carolina, Texas, and Utah highlight transmission risks in under-vaccinated communities. Traders should watch weekly CDC surveillance updates, state-level vaccination drives, and summer travel for potential escalation, with current 5% hospitalization rates and no deaths.
