Silver spot prices (XAGUSD) have rallied sharply to around $81.50 per ounce as of April 18, 2026—up over 5% in the past week—driven by a fifth consecutive year of structural supply deficits and robust industrial demand from solar photovoltaics and electronics, per the Silver Institute's World Silver Survey 2026. A weaker US dollar index (DXY) near 98 and gold's parallel surge above $4,850/oz bolster the uptrend as inflation-hedge buying intensifies. J.P. Morgan forecasts an annual average of $81/oz amid tightening inventories. Traders monitor upcoming US CPI and PPI releases for Federal Reserve rate path clues, with geopolitical tensions adding volatility to near-term positioning.
