Mercedes' overwhelming superiority under the 2026 regulations has positioned George Russell (43.5%) and teammate Kimi Antonelli (35.3%) as the clear trader consensus favorites for the Drivers' Championship, reflecting their 1-2 finishes in Australia and China, plus Antonelli's pole and championship-leading points tally after the Japanese Grand Prix on March 29. Russell's consistent podiums and experience edge him slightly ahead in implied probabilities, while Antonelli's rapid adaptation and victory ignoring team orders signal a fierce intra-team battle. Rivals like Charles Leclerc (5.8%) and Oscar Piastri (4.3%) trail due to Ferrari and McLaren's early struggles in qualifying, race pace, and reliability amid the new power unit era, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen (2.3%) hampered by DNFs and setup issues. Ongoing development races could narrow the gap, but Mercedes' points dominance drives current sentiment.
