This market will resolve to the player who wins the 2026 Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter award for the 2026 MLB Season. In the event of a tie, this market will resolve according to the official winner as determined by MLB rules. If multiple winners are announced then this market will resolve to the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically. If the 2026 MLB season is cancelled, postponed after December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or there is otherwise no winner declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Major League Baseball; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Trader consensus on Polymarket reflects a razor-thin race for the 2026 Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter Award just after MLB Opening Day, with Brent Rooker leading at 40% implied probability ahead of Shohei Ohtani, Kerry Carpenter, Ivan Herrera, and a cluster at 39.5%. Preseason positional power rankings from FanGraphs, ESPN's Buster Olney, and Just Baseball placed these sluggers atop projected WAR and slugging lists, buoyed by 2025 breakouts—Ohtani's NL-leading 55 homers and .622 slugging, Rooker's sustained power, Carpenter's elite SLG versus righties—yet minimal plate appearances prevent separation. Contenders like Yordan Alvarez, Marcell Ozuna, and Kyle Schwarber hover nearby due to comparable historical OPS, lineup protection, and health outlooks, with full-season consistency key amid small-sample volatility.
