**Geopolitical tensions between Iran and World Cup co-host United States dominate trader consensus on Iran's potential removal from the 2026 FIFA World Cup**, where all three group stage matches are scheduled in the US. Yesterday, Iran's Sports Ministry banned national and club teams from traveling to "hostile" countries, heightening participation uncertainty despite the football federation's March 19 insistence against full withdrawal. FIFA rejected Iran's request to relocate games to Mexico, following earlier sports minister claims of unsafe conditions amid US-Iran conflict. No official disqualification or boycott confirmed as of March 28, but FIFA regulations allow penalties including future tournament bans and replacement by the next AFC qualifier if Iran forfeits, with a key March 31 decision deadline looming for some resolutions.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Iran is officially disqualified, banned, withdrawn, or otherwise confirmed not to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup by March 31, 2026. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
For the purposes of resolution, a qualifying announcement made on or before March 31, 2026, will suffice, regardless of whether Iran ultimately participates in the tournament thereafter.
"Confirmed to not participate" is defined as an official announcement by FIFA, the Iranian Football Federation, or a governing body resulting in Iran's removal from the tournament, whether due to disqualification, withdrawal, suspension, or any other reason.
The resolution source will be official announcements from FIFA or the Iranian Football Federation, however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
