China’s July CPI print of 0.5% year-over-year, softer than expected amid weak domestic demand and food deflation, has kept trader focus on whether August data will edge higher. Analysts cite seasonal vegetable price gains from hot weather, stabilizing pork supplies, and modest energy rebounds as potential lifts toward 0.7-0.9%, while persistent consumption softness, ample inventories, and limited policy pass-through cap upside. Core inflation near 0.9% and official pledges of targeted fiscal support add mild upward bias, yet base effects and subdued non-food components anchor the 0.5-0.8% range. The near-even split between the leading bins reflects these offsetting forces ahead of the National Bureau of Statistics release.
