Severe weather disruptions dominated April 4 air travel, with spring storms, low clouds, and FAA ground delay programs at major hubs like Boston Logan, New York-area airports, Chicago O'Hare, and Dallas-Fort Worth triggering widespread delays amid Easter weekend peak volumes. Preliminary FlightAware reports indicate over 5,600 delays and nearly 500 cancellations, exceeding the 2026 daily average of around 5,600, but cascading effects from thunderstorms and air traffic control staffing shortages have traders pricing a consensus around 6,000-7,000 delays—favoring 6,000-6,500 (52.5%) over 6,500-7,000 (39.5%)—pending final Bureau of Transportation Statistics confirmation of 15+ minute delays. Ongoing FAA advisories highlight risks at additional sites like Philadelphia and Orlando.
