Benin's Constitutional Court confirmed Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni's landslide presidential election victory on April 23, 2026, with over 94% of the vote from the April 12 poll, driving trader consensus to a 98% implied probability for him as next president succeeding term-limited incumbent Patrice Talon. The sole opposition challenger, Paul Hounkpè of the Cowry Forces for an Emerging Benin party, conceded defeat shortly after provisional results, in a race restricted to two candidates by electoral laws favoring the ruling coalition following January parliamentary polls. Wadagni awaits May 24 inauguration amid northern security challenges; only unprecedented events like a successful legal reversal, coup attempt, or health crisis could shift the outcome.
