The Oakland Athletics (10-9, leading AL West) host the struggling Chicago White Sox (6-13, last in AL Central) at Sutter Health Park for the series' second game, with Erick Fedde starting for Chicago against Luis Severino for Oakland in a key pitching matchup—Fedde stable through moderate workloads, Severino showing early volatility concerns per analytics. White Sox arrive on a three-game losing streak, announcing pregame roster moves claiming RHP Osvaldo Bido off waivers while transferring Prelander Berroa to the 60-day injured list; their lineup omits catcher Edgar Quero, featuring Murakami at first and Vargas at third. Athletics benefit from home-field edge and superior early-season form, though both bullpens face scrutiny amid thin margins in the young campaign.
