Trader consensus favors Claudio Tapia remaining AFA president past July 19, 2026, at 65.5% implied probability on "No," reflecting his secure term until 2028 following unopposed re-election in 2024 with strong backing from lower-division clubs. Recent judicial charges for tax evasion and improper retention of social contributions—leading to a confirmed travel ban and AFA embargo in late March 2026—have intensified scrutiny amid fan boos and River Plate's withdrawal from the executive committee over corruption concerns. However, no resignation or forced exit has materialized, buoyed by Argentina's national team successes under his tenure, including World Cup and Copa América triumphs, and preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on that date, tempering immediate ouster risks.
