General elections are scheduled to be held in the Faroe Islands on 26 March 2026. This market will resolve to the individual who is formally appointed as Løgmaður (Prime Minister) of the Faroe Islands following the 2026 Faroese general election. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed as Løgmaður following the 2026 Faroese general election. Any interim or caretaker head of government will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister is appointed by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of the Faroe Islands; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Following the March 26, 2026, snap Løgting election, trader consensus overwhelmingly favors Beinir Johannesen of the People's Party (Fólkaflokkurin) as next Løgmaður, reflecting its victory with nine seats—the largest bloc amid a fragmented parliament requiring 17 for a majority government. Outgoing Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen resigned after failing to renew his coalition, prompting party leaders to name 29-year-old Beinir Johannesen as formateur for talks with the Union Party (seven seats) and Social Democrats (six seats), which began March 30 ahead of an April 10 deadline. This commanding position stems from the party's vote gains and strategic partner outreach, though a rival coalition excluding Fólkaflokkurin or negotiation breakdowns over policy sticking points like independence or economy could challenge it.
