Incumbent Republican Pete Stauber holds a strong position in Minnesota's 8th congressional district ahead of the November 2026 general election, supported by the district's R+7 partisan voter index and his 58 percent victory in 2024. Recent developments include Stauber's unanimous endorsement at the Republican nominating convention on April 25 and the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's selection of Trina Swanson at its May 2 convention, though a crowded Democratic primary field of five candidates remains ahead of the August 11 vote and June 2 filing deadline. Nonpartisan ratings from the Cook Political Report and similar forecasters classify the seat as solid Republican, reflecting the district's consistent lean and the incumbent's established record in this rural northern Minnesota area. Trader consensus on these probabilities aligns with historical voting patterns and the limited shifts observed in recent cycles.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
