Ionescu, a career-high No. 45 after stunning Alexis Lebrun and claiming Romania's national title last week, has fueled competitive balance with aggressive play in recent WTT events. Wang's first 2026 loss— a 2-4 quarterfinal defeat to Sora Matsushima at WTT Champions Chongqing on March 14—ended his unbeaten streak, introducing caution despite his 1-0 head-to-head edge from 2024 Saudi Smash.
