Madison Keys enters the Credit One Charleston Open second round with a commanding 4-1 head-to-head edge over Donna Vekic, including a straight-sets win in their latest clash at the 2025 Mutua Madrid Open, bolstering trader consensus on the 2019 champion's green clay pedigree and home-crowd boost as a former titleholder. Vekic advanced yesterday via a gritty three-set comeback over Ajla Tomljanovic—rallying from a set down 3-6, 6-1, 6-4—highlighting her resilience amid a middling 2026 start marked by early tour-level struggles, though Keys' mixed spring form, including an Indian Wells last-16 exit, tempers expectations amid no reported injuries for either on the outdoor clay surface.
