The Afghanistan-Sri Lanka T20I series, originally set for mid-March 2026 in the UAE, was postponed indefinitely on March 11 due to regional conflict creating logistical challenges like flight disruptions, with rescheduling eyed for late 2026 at the same spin-friendly venues. Afghanistan named opener Ibrahim Zadran as their new T20I captain ahead of the tour, leading a squad featuring Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Mohammad Nabi after a mixed ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 where they secured wins over UAE and Canada before exiting. Sri Lanka impressed early in the T20WC with a 105-run thrashing of Oman but faltered in Super 8s; they hold a recent edge, winning 2-0 in February 2024. Traders eye Afghanistan's potent spin attack and toss dynamics on UAE pitches as key differentiators once rescheduled.
