Vukic enters as the higher-ranked player at No. 84 against Martinez's No. 113, bringing a bigger serve and recent hard-court momentum into this Monte Carlo Masters qualifying clash on clay, but both arrive off first-round losses last week—Vukic to Taha Baadi in Marrakech (6-2, 3-6, 6-1) and Martinez to Daniel Altmaier in Bucharest. Martinez, a Spaniard with stronger clay credentials including his 50th tour-level clay win earlier in Buenos Aires, holds a 2-1 head-to-head edge, most recently defeating Vukic in Chengdu. Vukic's recent shoulder concerns add uncertainty, while Martinez's baseline grinding suits the slow Monte Carlo courts; expect a competitive matchup with surface history tilting slightly toward the underdog.
