This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Philadelphia Phillies; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The Philadelphia Phillies' firing of manager Rob Thomson after a 9-19 start to the 2026 season—coupled with Don Mattingly's appointment as interim skipper—has ignited a wide-open search for the next permanent bench boss, driving trader consensus to price top candidates like Alex Cora, Brandon Hyde, Ryan Flaherty, and others equally at 49.5%. Cora's recent availability following his Boston Red Sox dismissal adds intrigue given his ties to Phillies president Dave Dombrowski, yet no frontrunner has emerged amid pending interviews and a deep pool of experienced MLB managers, internal coaches, and former skippers. This closely contested dynamic underscores the wisdom of crowds awaiting official developments in a high-stakes NL East rebuild.
