New hires like Craig Albernaz (Orioles, 3-3 after 2025 disappointment) and Kurt Suzuki (Angels, 3-4 amid a replay challenge denial) gain traction for potential turnarounds via lineup flexibility and in-game adjustments, while Skip Schumaker's Rangers ride hot form and Alex Cora clings despite Red Sox' 1-5 start. Mark Kotsay's Athletics (1-5) represent longshot overachievement bets, underscoring small-sample volatility and diverse paths to exceeding preseason expectations in wild card contention.
