In the Sao Leopoldo Challenger's second round on outdoor clay, No. 7 seed Juan Pablo Varillas (ATP 271) meets higher-ranked Facundo Diaz Acosta (ATP 222), both advancing via straight-sets first-round wins on March 31—Varillas downed Carlos Maria Zarate 6-3, 6-3, while Diaz Acosta dispatched Santiago De La Fuente 6-3, 6-2. Diaz Acosta enters with stronger momentum, including a Tigre 2 Challenger title earlier in March and an 11-6 clay record this year, contrasting Varillas' 12-9 clay slate amid recent quarterfinal runs in Asuncion. Their clay-only head-to-head favors Varillas 2-1, though Diaz Acosta's 2023 Concepcion win highlights stylistic matchup risks. Traders weigh Diaz Acosta's ranking edge against Varillas' seeding and home-continent comfort in this closely contested affair.
