Alexander Shevchenko, ranked No. 84, holds a substantial experience edge over No. 658 Radu David Turcanu in this ATP 250 Bucharest first-round clay-court clash, marking their head-to-head debut. Shevchenko enters clay season 0-0 after a middling 2026 hard-court start (roughly 4-5 ATP level), with career clay mark around 42% underscoring adaptation challenges. Turcanu, the 20-year-old Romanian lefty on home soil via wildcard, boasts solid recent ITF M15 clay form, reaching Antalya second round last month before falling to Chepelev. Crowd support and surface comfort fuel Turcanu's upset bid, though Shevchenko's superior rankings and draw path drive trader consensus toward the veteran.
