Shevchenko advanced dominantly 6-0, 6-0 over Andrea Pellegrino in the opening round, building momentum from Miami upsets over Matteo Arnaldi and Ben Shelton on hard courts earlier in March. Bautista Agut grinded past Benjamin Bonzi on Saturday after a shaky clay tune-up loss days prior, leaning on his superior surface history—11 career clay titles versus Shevchenko's limited deep runs. No reported injuries; Monte Carlo's slow red clay favors the Spaniard's baseline grinding over the Kazakh's aggressive style, though Shevchenko's recent form adds upset potential.
