Mercedes' dominant start to the 2026 F1 season has positioned George Russell and Kimi Antonelli as clear frontrunners in the drivers' championship market, with trader consensus implying Russell's 43.5% probability edge over Antonelli's 33.3% reflecting his experience despite the Italian rookie's surge. Antonelli claimed pole and victory at the Japanese Grand Prix on March 29, his second consecutive win after China, vaulting him to the top of the standings with 72 points to Russell's 63 via a strategic pit stop under safety car conditions that favored his timing. Russell's consistent pace, including front-row starts, has been undermined by Suzuka misfortune like a poor restart, yet his qualifying edge and intra-team battle history keep him favored in Mercedes' superior package, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc trails at third overall.
