Rising component costs from the ongoing RAM and chip shortages have driven Valve to delay the Steam Machine's 2026 launch and revisit pricing, fueling trader consensus at 72.5% implied probability for a $700+ release price. January leaks from Czech retailer Smarty.cz listed the 512GB model at $950 and 2TB at $1,070, eclipsing earlier $500–$600 estimates and aligning with premium hardware specs rivaling PS5 Pro. Valve's February announcement confirmed supply chain impacts without price specifics, while March updates reaffirmed a 2026 window amid persistent uncertainty. Key catalysts ahead include preorder openings and official MSRP reveal, which could shift odds if base pricing undercuts leaks.
