Trader consensus on Polymarket reflects a 74.5% implied probability that Valve's Steam Machine base 512GB model will launch at $700 or more, driven by credible leaks and Valve's explicit stance against console-style subsidies. A January 2026 Czech retailer listing pegged the price at $950 USD, fueling speculation amid February's pricing delay announcement citing volatile RAM and component costs that have pushed estimates to $699–$900, akin to midrange prebuilts or PS5 Pro. Absent official pricing—which Valve has withheld despite an early 2026 release window—traders anticipate PC-like economics over aggressive discounting, with recent PS5 price hikes underscoring broader hardware inflation. Key catalyst: Valve's next hardware update, potentially imminent as H1 launch nears.
