As MLB teams approach 26 games into the 2026 regular season, strong starts from division leaders like the 17-9 New York Yankees (AL East) and Los Angeles Dodgers (NL West) drive trader consensus toward perennial contenders securing playoff berths, with FanGraphs projections implying near-lock probabilities above 94% for both amid matching hot streaks. Chicago Cubs match that mark atop NL Central on a nine-game win streak, boosting their wild card positioning, while Atlanta Braves hold firm in NL East. Tight wild card races feature Mariners, Tigers, Pirates, and Rangers, but early volatility, roster health from recent injury reports (e.g., oblique strains, Tommy John returns), home/away splits, and schedule strength will intensify competition for the 12 postseason spots before the July trade deadline.
