Luis Arraez holds a narrow edge in the 2026 MLB batting average race at .313 through mid-September, just ahead of Yordan Alvarez at .312, reflecting trader consensus on their contact consistency and remaining schedule. Arraez, now with the Phillies after earlier Giants time, continues his pattern of high-average seasons through disciplined plate approach and low strikeouts, while Alvarez sustains elite production for the Astros with strong on-base skills despite power focus. Otto Lopez and Chandler Simpson sit further back near .307-.308, but the gap has traders pricing limited upset potential. With roughly eight games left, late surges or slumps in the final stretch remain the primary swing factors in this closely contested leaderboard.
