Incumbent Republican French Hill secured a decisive primary victory over challenger Chase McDowell in March 2026, advancing to face Democrat Chris Jones, who won his nomination with over 92 percent. Central Arkansas's 2nd district, which includes Little Rock and surrounding counties, has remained in Republican hands for more than a decade and delivered Hill a comfortable 59 percent margin in 2024. These factors, combined with the district's consistent partisan lean and limited recent polling shifts, underpin trader consensus favoring the Republican nominee ahead of the November general election. No major developments have altered the competitive landscape in the past month.
