Amazon's February 2026 earnings guidance set 2026 capital expenditures at $200 billion—up roughly 50% from 2025 levels—with the majority directed toward AI data centers, custom silicon, and AWS infrastructure. This figure exceeded analyst models by more than $50 billion and aligned with a broader hyperscaler surge exceeding $600 billion industry-wide. First-quarter 2026 results showed $44 billion in capex already deployed, driven by accelerating AI demand as AWS revenue grew 28% year-over-year to $37.6 billion. CEO commentary highlighted rapid monetization of new capacity through committed customer deals, though investors have focused on free-cash-flow pressure and payback timelines amid the aggressive buildout. Q2 earnings later this month will provide the next read on whether spending remains on or above the $200 billion trajectory.
