Pavel Kotov's recent hard-court surge, including a semifinal run at the Wuning Challenger with wins over Harry Wendelken, Ilia Simakin, and Fajing Sun just prior to Busan, has shaped trader consensus around his baseline power and tiebreak prowess on the surface. He carries a 1-0 head-to-head lead over Yi Zhou from their 2024 Beijing hard-court encounter, rallying from a set down for a 6-3, 7-5 victory despite Zhou's higher ATP ranking (220 vs. Kotov's 262). As wildcard entrant, Zhou shows inconsistent 2026 form with early Brisbane and team event exits, amid lingering back injury history from prior years, heightening matchup uncertainty on Busan's outdoor hard courts.
