In the ATP Challenger 75 Santa Cruz de la Sierra on clay courts, Bolivian veteran Hugo Dellien entered his second-round matchup against young Argentine Juan Estevez as the clear trader favorite, buoyed by home-crowd support, altitude acclimation, and a superior clay-court resume with multiple Challenger titles and a career-high No. 64 ranking. Ranked around No. 156 versus Estevez's No. 409, Dellien rode strong opening-round form into the April 15 clash—their first head-to-head—where he prevailed 6-4, 6-3 before advancing to the semifinals with wins over Taverna and Aboian. Estevez, despite a gritty first-round comeback over La Serna, faced stylistic disadvantages against Dellien's baseline consistency, underscoring the ranking and surface gaps shaping pre-match sentiment.
