With the 2026 MLS Defender of the Year market wide open ahead of next season, trader consensus clusters tightly around 19-22% for frontrunners like Jack Elliott, Robert Voloder, Justen Glad, Birk Risa, and Marcelo Silva, reflecting a crowded field of shutdown center backs boasting elite aerial duels, tackle efficiency, and clean-sheet contributions from 2025. Elliott's veteran leadership and Union defensive stability edge him slightly ahead, while Voloder's breakout interception rates and Glad's Galaxy shutout prowess fuel the parity; recent contract extensions and minimal injury histories among the top 10 bolster their staying power. This even spread underscores the wisdom of crowds pricing in roster continuity, tactical schemes, and upset potential across competitive backlines.
