With the 2026 NCAA Tournament down to the Elite Eight, trader consensus tightly clusters around the surviving No. 1 seeds—Arizona, Michigan, and Duke—as top title contenders, reflecting their dominant regular-season metrics, favorable bracket paths, and recent Sweet 16 triumphs amid March Madness parity. Arizona vaulted ahead after decisively thumping Arkansas two days ago—its first Elite Eight since 2015, powered by Brayden Burries' 23 points and elite defense (No. 3 nationally)—while Michigan cruised past Alabama 90-77, leveraging top-ranked defense and Big Ten depth. Duke rallied from a heated battle to edge St. John's 80-75 yesterday, underscoring resilience despite prior injury concerns. Surging Illinois, riding a Houston upset, adds Big Ten intrigue versus Iowa, keeping the field competitive with no clear runaway favorite.
