Trader consensus heavily favors the CDU to finish second in the Sachsen-Anhalt Landtagswahl on September 6, 2026, reflecting consistent opinion polls showing the AfD leading at 38-39% and the CDU stably at 25-26%—a 12-13 point gap—for over a month. The latest INSA survey from March 24 confirmed this positioning, with Die Linke third at 13% and others trailing further, underscoring CDU's secure hold on second amid the incumbent CDU-SPD-FDP coalition's minority status under new Minister-President Sven Schulze, elected January 28. No major shifts in the past 30 days have altered this dynamic, though Die Linke's recent +2% gain narrows the gap slightly; other parties' refusal to coalition with AfD reinforces focus on vote shares over government formation. Upcoming campaign events could influence turnout in this proportional representation system.
