Magnus Carlsen enters Norway Chess 2026 as the overwhelming market leader thanks to his record seven prior titles at the event, sustained world number-one ranking, and 2840 FIDE rating that tops the six-player double round-robin field. The May 25–June 5 Oslo tournament features a mix of established talents and rising stars, yet traders assign the Norwegian the highest implied probability on the strength of his classical consistency and home-soil familiarity. Gukesh Dommaraju, the reigning world champion, and Alireza Firouzja bring strong recent form and high ratings, while Vincent Keymer, Wesley So, and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu occupy the next tier as debutants or returning competitors with proven classical results. No major late changes have altered the lineup since its February announcement, leaving Carlsen’s historical edge and current rating as the primary drivers of current pricing.
