People's Party leader Beinir Johannesen commands overwhelming trader consensus at 97.9% implied probability to become the next Løgmaður following the March 26 Løgting election, where his party secured 9 seats—the largest bloc—with 26.8% of the vote, up from 6 seats previously. Outgoing Social Democratic Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen resigned on March 28 after failing to form a coalition, paving the way for Johannesen as formateur tasked with building a majority of 17 seats amid ongoing talks for a potential People's-Union-Centre (18 seats) or broader alliance. This commanding position stems from his party's gains amid voter focus on housing and youth retention over independence. Realistic challenges include prolonged coalition negotiations collapsing, enabling a rival bloc like Social Democrats-Republic-Progress to regroup despite their 14 combined seats.
