In the Credit One Charleston Open qualifying second round on green clay, No. 154 Elvina Kalieva faces No. 264 Akasha Urhobo, both Americans advancing with straight-set shutouts yesterday—Kalieva 6-2, 6-0 over veteran Madison Brengle, Urhobo 6-2, 6-2 past seeded Whitney Osuigwe. Urhobo owns a decisive 6-1, 6-1 head-to-head win over Kalieva on clay at the 2024 W75 Zephyrhills, highlighting her stylistic edge despite the ranking gap. Kalieva enters with a strong 12-4 YTD record, including a gritty Miami qualifying win, while 19-year-old Urhobo boasts an 86% clay win rate this year and 12-3 overall. No injuries reported; back-to-back matches test recovery on the outdoor surface. Trader consensus weighs Kalieva's experience against Urhobo's momentum and prior dominance.
