Liam Draxl enters as the slim trader favorite at 53.5% implied probability against wildcard Nishesh Basavareddy in the US Men's Clay Court Championships first round, buoyed by his No. 147 ATP ranking over Basavareddy's No. 198 and recent qualifying success on Houston's clay courts, where he outlasted Mitchell Krueger in three sets before edging fellow Canadian Alexis Galarneau in a near-three-hour thriller on March 29. Basavareddy, fresh off a Miami Open loss, holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge from their 2024 Puerto Vallarta Challenger hard-court final (6-3, 7-6), but limited ATP clay experience for both—Draxl 1-0 YTD—keeps it competitive. Momentum from Draxl's matches could tip scales, while Basavareddy benefits from home support and rest; baseline rallies and serve holds will decide.
