Jeremy Fears Jr. of Michigan State holds a slim national lead in assists per game at 9.4 amid the 2025-26 NCAA season, edging Purdue's Braden Smith at 8.9, fueling trader consensus at 50% and 45% respectively in this tightly contested race. Fears exploded for a Michigan State-record 16 assists in an NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 win last week, surpassing Magic Johnson's marks over two games with 27 total, while Smith's season-long consistency—capped by breaking Bobby Hurley's all-time NCAA career assists record in the Boilermakers' first-round victory—keeps him within striking distance. UCF's Themus Fulks trails at around 6.7 APG but at 36.5% implied probability after setting a Knights single-season record, as Elite Eight games on March 28 introduce volatility through added minutes and matchups in March Madness.
