The pre-tournament stage for the 2026 FIFA World Cup leaves a broad field of creative midfielders and wingers with comparable opportunities to lead in assists, as squad announcements and recent international form have not produced decisive shifts among top candidates. Players like Marcel Sabitzer, Kevin De Bruyne, and Rodrigo De Paul benefit from established roles in attacking setups, while others such as Antonee Robinson and Riyad Mahrez draw support from team expectations in group-stage matchups. The tight clustering of implied probabilities around 36-41% reflects the wisdom of crowds pricing in variables like minutes played, tactical setups, and potential for extended runs, with no single standout emerging from the past month of preparations. Historical patterns show assists often spread across multiple contributors in expanded 48-team formats.
