South Africa Women's thrilling 2-wicket last-ball victory in the 1st ODI at Hagley Oval—sealed by debutant Kayla Reyneke's six chasing 269, after Annerie Dercksen's 72 and Sune Luus's 53—gives the Proteas a 1-0 series lead, yet traders price New Zealand Women at 60% implied probability to win the best-of-three ODI series. The White Ferns' home advantage on batsman-friendly Hagley pitches, Maddy Green's 85 anchoring their 268, and dominant 4-1 T20I series sweep over the same opponents just prior underscore their batting depth and recovery potential under captain Amelia Kerr. South Africa's missing allrounder Dane van Niekerk due to calf injury limits depth, while Ayabonga Khaka's 6/56 highlights bowling threat, keeping the matchup competitive ahead of the 2nd ODI on March 31.
